The meditation methods passed down by the ancient Buddha Qingchan can be divided into different types according to their characteristics, such as ascetic meditation and silent meditation. Among them, silent meditation is the most advanced.
In order to practice silent meditation, one must be a highly disciplined and wise enlightened monk.
When practicing the silent meditation, recite the scriptures daily to eliminate all hindrances and enhance one's cultivation.
However, the practitioner of the silent meditation must not open their mouth easily. Once they do, they will possess an unparalleled power surpassing those at the same level of cultivation. However, the cultivation of the silent meditation will be wasted after opening the mouth.
The practice levels of the Zen Buddhism taught by Qingchan Gufo are divided into four stages: Sangha, Arhat, Bodhisattva, and Buddha.
Among them, Sangha refers to practitioners who have cultivated good intentions and performed virtuous deeds, but have not yet attained the status of Arhat. They have not yet transcended the suffering of cyclic existence and are subject to the limitations of lifespan.
Arhat is an eminent monk who has attained enlightenment in the Zen sect. Those who have attained the position of Arhat have purified their six senses and eradicated ignorance and afflictions. Arhats have transcended birth and death and achieved the state of eternal life, and they can further progress to enter the state of Nirvana (the state of Bodhisattva).
One who pays respects to Bodhisattvas seeks supreme enlightenment through wisdom and benefits sentient beings through compassion. This person cultivates various Bodhisattva practices and will attain the fruition of a Buddha in the future.
One who attains the state of a Buddha possesses the unsurpassed Dharma and virtues, fully realizes the truth, achieves the fruition of a Buddha, and propagates the grand aspiration to benefit the world, guiding sentient beings towards goodness.
"Second junior disciple, our master has sacrificed himself to suppress the Huang Quan Swallowing Heaven Beast. We have lost the Heaven-reaching White Jade Pillar and the Sea-crossing Purple Gold Beam. Although Senior Chaos will protect us in the face of life and death crisis in the Zen teaching, Chaos is ultimately a quasi-saint like Ancestor Kun of Chaos, not a true representative of our Zen teaching. What should we do about this?"
