Chapter 44 Escape!

Hiss! The sharp wind sound approached rapidly from behind, sending a chill to the back of Li Hao's head. He desperately tried to control his body to turn around, but he was ultimately a beat too slow.
All of a sudden, time seemed to slow down. Li Hao slowly turned around and, from the corner of his eye, could see Tang Xiansheng standing only three meters away. This guy had a ferocious expression, bloodshot eyes, and was still in the posture of charging forward, with his five fingers spread open, aimed at Li Hao's neck.
Giggle, giggle, giggle! Li Hao could even hear the sound of his teeth grinding and colliding. He exerted all his strength to turn around and face Tang Xiansheng head-on, but unfortunately, the severely weakened Li Hao was powerless to reverse the situation. He could only maintain the posture of twisting his head and watch in horror as Tang Xiansheng's terrifying nails were about to pierce his neck.
Three meters... two meters... one meter! When the monster was about one meter away from Li Hao, it suddenly leaped up. The height difference between it and Li Hao was too large, so it could only jump up to make a deadly strike by piercing Li Hao's neck from behind.
Li Hao has already completely turned his head, but his body is still slightly sideways. He watches as the approaching monster leaps towards him, his body desperately squeezing out the last bit of potential, but still unable to gain any speed.
Just as Li Hao was prepared to die with the monster, even if his neck was pierced, a palm-sized flying knife swept across Li Hao's field of vision, with a hint of cold light preceding it. Then, the monster that had leapt into the air instantly fell to the ground.
Li Hao also turned completely around, and the monster that landed abruptly from the air was almost face to face with him. A palm-sized flying knife plunged straight into its forehead, revealing its bone-deep penetration. The person who threw the flying knife was extraordinary.
Of course, Li Hao could not be foolish enough to go and find out who saved him. At this point, he is filled with anger that is about to break through his skull. He never expected that he would almost be killed by a little devil today. If he doesn't give it a special treatment, Li Hao probably won't be able to sleep well in the future.
Fortunately, this monster was weakened by the flying knife piercing its forehead, even though it was still standing unsteadily. However, Li Hao didn't care about that. He struck while the iron was hot!
Slap! Li Hao raised his muscular right hand and slapped the left side of the monster's face. The fragile flesh instantly burst, and even its eyeballs seemed to shrink under the sudden pressure.
As the monster was about to fall down, Li Hao lifted his left foot up again, lifting the monster's falling body. He grabbed its throat with his left hand and slowly lifted it up with just one hand.
The monster's eyes were scattered and its limbs were weak, completely lacking any sense of resistance. Li Hao's mentality exploded once again. In this way, how could Li Hao possibly give up? He wanted this monster to die in fear!
Why is there no consciousness? Li Hao looked at the monster in his hand, which was being carried like a dead dog. The dagger that penetrated his forehead to the bone caught Li Hao's attention. He slowly grabbed the handle with his right hand, exerted force, and pulled it out suddenly. With his left hand, he clenched the throat with even greater strength.
When the monster recovered, Li Hao was not afraid to face it face-to-face, but if he gave it room to move, Li Hao estimated that he would be in big trouble.
As the throwing knife was pulled out, a horrifying blood hole slowly contracted on the monster's forehead, and it began to slowly regain its vitality. Its limbs started to struggle and twist, and its familiar ferocious gleam returned to its eyes.
Li Hao looked excitedly at the creature returning to its original form, his left hand holding its throat and bringing it in front of him. A cruel emotion surged into his heart and his eyes were completely filled with bloodshot. As his gaze met with the creature's gaze, it averted its eyes within three seconds, afraid to meet Li Hao's gaze.
Discovering the trembling on his left hand, Li Hao realized the monster was trembling in fear. However, Li Hao smiled at the monster, which looked like a little chick on his left hand. This was exactly what he needed. Come and die for me!
A roar echoed through the entire open space as Li Hao's left hand held up the monster and smashed it towards the ground. The impact created a small pit, causing the earth to crack. Tang Xiansheng's body, terrifyingly, was inserted head first into the pit, but even in this situation, he was still struggling fiercely.
As Li Hao watched the seemingly indestructible Tang Xiansheng, his violent emotions surged once again. He grabbed Tang Xiansheng's kicking and struggling feet with both hands and pulled him out of the ground.
Before Tang Xiansheng could escape, Li Haopu's palm, the size of a fan, had already covered its entire neck. The monster was initially shocked, but then seemed to anticipate what was coming next. While emitting a desperate scream, it reached out its hand to grab Li Haopu's "little face".
Li Hao looked at the monster, which was completely panicked, and laughed sinisterly. He grabbed the right back of the monster's neck and suddenly exerted full force, fiercely lifting it upwards. With the other hand, he grabbed its shoulder and pressed it firmly to the ground.
Afterwards, a shower of blood fell, and in Li Hao's right hand appeared a human head. The entire body of the monster remained in a struggling position, being pressed down on the ground. As Li Hao yanked off the head, it instantly lost its vitality again and collapsed on the ground, becoming a true corpse.
When the body fell, it was soft and weak, as if boneless. Upon closer inspection of the head in Li Hao's hand, it was discovered that there was a long bone attached to the back of the head. Li Hao actually pulled out the skull and spinal cord together.
After successfully slaying the monster, Li Hao pinched the throwing knife that had saved his life and scanned the surroundings with his eyes. He only saw the panicked villagers fleeing, but couldn't spot anyone who had saved him.
Why help yourself? Even in reality, Li Hao doesn't have any friends, let alone in this ghost place. Of course, it can be explained if it's Li Xue, a teammate after all, as they are in the same boat. But now, there is only this one teammate left, who else would save oneself? And why save oneself?
Just as Li Hao was lost in thought, he suddenly slapped his forehead, nearly forgetting about Li Xue and the other wizards. As he turned around, he saw that Li Xue had already finished wiping the blood off her knife.
Looking at the pile of corpses and Li Xue, who was untouched by a speck of ash, Li Hao could only say that he was really unlucky. He happened to encounter a monster that restrained him at such a time, but fortunately, that flying knife saved Li Hao's life.
Li Xue put the long knife away and looked up at Li Hao: "I think things may not be that simple."
"Damn it, I know it's not simple. Could anything this simple turn me into this mess?" Li Hao retorted fiercely. But Li Xue's eyebrows grew more serious: "That's not what I meant. It's just that we've killed important members of the ritual, but the mission completion hasn't been enhanced."
"In this situation, we can either become extremely wealthy and prosperous, or face great danger and harm. Which do you think suits our situation better?" Li Xue looked at the two sacrificial bodies on the ground, which had now been fully absorbed. From the outside, these bodies looked completely normal, even appearing to have better complexion than regular people.
This is obviously unscientific, and the smell emanating from these two bodies becomes increasingly eerie, with the coverage area expanding.
Li Xue stared at the two bodies slowly floating up, holding the just retrieved long knife again in her hand: "Fight or flee?"
"Escape!" Without saying a word, Li Hao turned around and ran. He had just fought a big battle with that monster, and now he didn't have the capital to fight anymore. Besides, if even a small monster is so bugged, there's no need to guess how strong the final boss is, right?
Although Li Hao really wants to fight a fair and upright battle, as the saying goes, "He who leaves the green hills fears no firewood. The best strategy in the Thirty-Six Stratagems is to retreat first, then attack."
Oh my goodness, it's so fragrant!
